The senior care industry is facing a demographic shift unlike anything it has seen before, and today, Marquis Companies & AgeRight are announcing the next step in preparing for it. AgeRight’s rehabilitation therapy, formerly Consonus Rehab, has officially launched as AgeRight Therapy, the first visible step in a broader company-wide evolution toward a more connected model of senior care.
Every day, thousands of Americans turn 65. By 2030, one in five people in the United States will be 65 or older, and a study by Grand View Research found the senior living industry is projected to grow into a $1.33 trillion market by 2033. At the same time, Argentum reports the direct care workforce will need to fill nearly 9.7 million job openings over the next and industry analysts estimate the country needs hundreds of thousands of additional senior living units to keep pace with demand.
Some in the industry have questioned the term “silver tsunami,” and their concern is understandable: a tsunami is a disaster, while aging is not. Still, the metaphor captures a real challenge. Demand is rising. The question is whether senior care providers will prepare for it or be left reacting to it.
“The Silver Tsunami isn’t a future problem. It’s already here, and it’s not going away. The organizations that will serve this generation well are the ones willing to rethink how care gets delivered, not just brace for how many more people need it. By integrating services under one brand, we are lowering the total cost of care. AgeRight Therapy is our first public step in that direction, and it won’t be our last,” said Phil Fogg, CEO of Marquis Companies and AgeRight.
The rebrand reflects more than a new name. It is the first visible step in the company’s population health management strategy, built around four objectives: lowering the cost of care, improving clinical outcomes, increasing consumer satisfaction and increasing staff satisfaction. By uniting its brands under AgeRight, the company is lowering the cost of care and moving toward a model where clinical care, operations and data work together instead of in separate silos, an approach the company believes will define which senior care providers thrive over the next decade.
Central to that strategy is a clinically integrated network, through which AgeRight is integrating its own services and collaborating with partner providers to coordinate care across settings. By aligning therapy, nursing, pharmacy and partner organizations around shared clinical goals, the network is designed to reduce avoidable costs and duplication while delivering better outcomes and a better experience for seniors and the teams who care for them.
“For too long, this industry has lacked alignment between payers, healthcare providers, and facility operators who serve the same resident. AgeRight Therapy is changing that, starting with how we operate, not just what we call ourselves,” said by Jonalyn Brown, SVP of Population Health at AgeRight.
AgeRight Therapy marks the first in a series of planned events under the AgeRight umbrella over the coming months. Additional details are expected as the rollout continues.
Senior Health, Simplified. AgeRight Therapy, formerly Consonus Rehab, has provided contract rehabilitation services to senior care communities for more than 30 years. Headquartered in Milwaukie, Oregon, the company provides physical, occupational, speech and outpatient therapy, as well as wellness services. AgeRight serves more than 15,000 patients annually across 58 communities and outpatient clinics in Oregon, Washington, California, Iowa, Utah, Illinois and Nevada. AgeRight Therapy is the first step toward AgeRight, a more connected model of senior care launching in spring 2027. To learn more, visit agerighttherapy.com.
