Creator-first platform gives filmmakers a home to showcase and distribute Apple Immersive Video, helping audiences discover films shaping this cinematic medium
NEWPORT BEACH, CA, UNITED STATES, September 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Fovii, a new curated immersive cinema platform built specifically for Apple Vision Pro, today announced the launch of a dedicated destination connecting immersive filmmakers with audiences seeking premium cinematic experiences created for the spatial era.
“Immersive filmmaking is reaching an incredibly exciting moment, but there is still a real gap between creating a great film and getting that film in front of the people who want to experience it. Fovii was built to help close that gap. We want filmmakers to have a place that understands the creative and technical demands of this medium, and we want audiences to know that when they come to Fovii, they’re going to discover work worth stepping inside,” said John Racine, founder of Fovii.
Built by immersive filmmakers for immersive filmmakers, Fovii was created to address a growing challenge in the emerging medium: extraordinary immersive films are being made, but creators still need better ways to bring that work to Apple Vision Pro, reach an audience and build sustainable momentum around their projects.
Fovii brings those pieces together in one platform.
For audiences, Fovii offers a carefully curated library of immersive films chosen for their storytelling, craft and ability to use the medium in compelling ways. Rather than an open content repository, Fovii emphasizes human curation, cinematic presentation and discovery, giving viewers a trusted place to find immersive stories designed to be experienced, not simply watched.
For filmmakers, Fovii is designed to be more than a distribution endpoint. Creators have access to feedback from experienced immersive filmmakers, technical guidance, launch support, audience analytics and opportunities for editorial promotion. The platform also showcases exclusive behind-the-scenes spatial content, giving audiences a deeper look at how immersive films are conceived and created.
Racine has spent his career at the intersection of filmmaking and emerging technology. He began in large-format IMAX 3D filmmaking with MacGillivray Freeman Films before joining pioneering virtual-reality company NextVR, where he helped create live immersive experiences spanning sports, concerts and documentary storytelling.
Following Apple’s acquisition of NextVR, Racine joined Apple and contributed to the development of Apple Immersive Video. He later joined Rogue Labs as Creative & Technical Director, where his work has continued to advance immersive filmmaking and native visionOS experiences.
That experience helped shape Fovii’s creator-first approach.
Filmmakers submitting work to Fovii receive review by immersive filmmakers, with the platform targeting an initial response within 14 days. Fovii also offers creative feedback, guidance on camera systems and spatial audio, support preparing films for presentation on Apple Vision Pro, audience analytics and opportunities to be included in curated collections and editorial showcases.
“We’re still at the beginning of figuring out what immersive cinema can become. The filmmakers experimenting with this medium right now are helping define its language. Fovii exists to champion those creators, help more of their work find an audience and give this emerging filmmaking community a place to grow,” Racine said.
Fovii arrives as creators gain access to increasingly sophisticated tools for producing high-fidelity immersive video and begin experimenting with storytelling techniques that place viewers inside a scene rather than observing it from outside a traditional frame.
The result, Racine believes, is not simply another format for video, but an emerging form of cinema with its own creative language.
Fovii is free to download from the App Store, with flexible ways for viewers to access immersive content. Audiences can watch select films and their associated Spatial Behind the Scenes content for free, rent individual titles with seven days of streaming access, or purchase films for offline viewing within the app. A Fovii subscription is also available for $9.99 per month, providing access to the full film catalog.
Fovii is now accepting film submissions from immersive filmmakers. To learn more, submit a film or sign up for app updates, visit Fovii.com.
